This Martindale abrasion and pilling tester is made to perform wear and pilling tests.
The degree of wear of manufactures product is tested by rubbing the sample against a standard abrasive fiber.
Pilling formation is tested by rubbing two pieces of the manufactured product against each other.
Martindale abrasion and pilling tester can be supplied with four or six bases to carry out the test.
The bases are arranged on the equipment in a circular position to allow for ease of access. The test for abrasion and for pilling cannot be run simultaneously but all the parts needed to pass from one method to the other are included in the instrument.
Martindale tester is used to compare the resistance to abrasion of cloths with different dye fastness or finish. It can be used also to compare the effect of cloth against abrasion.
