The Hand Operated Lastometer is used for the fast testing of the grain stretching ability of leathers. It is suitable for partial testing according to IUP/9 and DIN 53325.
In the test, a ball rod is pressed manually into the test specimen by turning on the built-in micrometer. The stretching is continued until the grain bursts. When the resistance to heat of patent leathers is examined, the test specimen is firstly stretched. It is then heated and any cracking of the lacquer layer that occurs is examined.
The extension up to cracking can be read off on a scale attached to the unit.
