It is not always easy to distinguish between faux leather and real leather. Authentic leather is much more expensive than faux, so it is important to know the difference between the two.

Check the labels: checking the label on the product is the first easy step to identify the type of leather. If the label reads, “manmade materials,” the product is not made of real leather.
Inspect the borders: look at the borders of the cloth or furniture. Faux leather products will have a perfect-looking border that feels frothy or plastic. Authentic leather will have a rough-around-the-borders look.
Reaction to the water: once the leather is wet and then naturally dried, if it is real will present trace of the drops; if it is not will remain the same.
Examine the Pores: faux leather will have pores that are in a pattern, while real leather will have random placed pores.
Check the reaction to heat: real leather become warm right after touching it

Smell the leather: the smell of the real leather is unique.
