The test pieces are clamped over the opening of metal containers, which holds 50 ml of water for the duration of the test.
The water absorption of the test piece is determined by its difference in mass before and after the test.
The equipment is composed basically by the following components:
– one stand for the six containers:
– six circular metal containers, of volume 100 cm³ and having an internal diameter of 3,5 cm which correspond to a test area of approximately 10 cm²;
– six upper rings fixed with three clamps each
